Regime's forces advanced in south

The Syrian forces made a limited advance on Saturday at the expense of the armed groups in the southern governorate of Daraa as clashes have been continuing at a high pace since days.

On Tuesday, the regime forces began intensifying its shelling on the eastern countryside of Daraa, warning of an imminent military operation to be launched against the armed groups in the southern governorate.

France Press agency quoted from the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Rami Abdul Rahman saying, "The forces of the regime made its first advance in the area since the military escalation on Tuesday, taking control over the two villages of al-Bustan and al-Shomariya in the eastern countryside of Daraa."

The shelling and clashes are currently concentrated at the administrative border between the governorates of Daraa and Sweida, specifically in Daraa eastern countryside and the western outskirts of Sweida.

The southern area is considered important due to its border and geographical location with Israel and Jordan, apart from its proximity to Damascus.
