Declining diesel price in al-Raqqa affected people positively

Al-Raqqa city witnessed a significant decline in the prices of fuel which had a positive impact on the people after IS mercenaries used to exploit fuel prices to monopolize and sell them to their supporting countries.

During the occupation of al-Raqqa city, IS mercenaries used to monopolize the prices of fuel and sell it to the people at very high prices; they also used to export it to the Turkish occupation state and sell a diesel barrel by 40 thousand S.P as the price of a liter was about 200 S.P.

Since al-Raqqa is considered an agricultural area, it is considered the most area that uses the fuel oil in terms of the use of tractors and diesel engines for transferring water and harvesters, so the monopoly of fuel was affecting the farmers negatively due to the expensive wages of the agricultural machineries; tractors and harvesters.

On the industrial, commercial and internal and external transportation sides, the price of fuel has had a negative impact on the citizens in terms of raising food and commercial materials’ prices in addition to the transportation costs.

In addition, the people have switched fuel heaters in their homes due to the high price of a barrel into firewood heaters.

After the liberation of al-Raqqa city and its countryside from IS mercenaries by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), and the activation of service institutions, including the Fuel Institution, the price of diesel has declined, and it has become available to the people as the price of a liter has become 65 pounds, and the price of a barrel 13,000 SP.

ANHA agency met the owner of a gas station in al-Karama town in the eastern suburb of al-Raqqa Abdullah al-Humaidi as he said, "Before the liberation of the area from IS mercenaries, the prices of fuel were very high, affecting al-Raqqa and its countryside’s citizens negatively, and today, after liberation, the price of diesel is suitable for all the citizens."

Al-Humaidi added, "Since the area is agricultural, the decline of the fuel oil’s price has a positive impact on the citizens, especially the farmers.”

Al-Humaidi stressed that the price of diesel in North Syria is considered the cheapest price all over Syria.
