Kongra Star, in cooperation with the Women's Organization in Italy, opened the first women's intellectual training academy in Kobanî canton.

The academy which was named "Martyr Sheilan Kobanî", opened today with the presence of female directors and members of Democratic Autonomous Administration's bodies and civic institutions in Kobanî, as well as an Italian delegation that cooperated with Kongra Star in founding the academy.

The Academy is decorated with pictures of women who have struggled throughout history, as well as nature's pictures.

During the ceremony, the administrator of the Italian Women's Organization, Karla Clooney, expressed her happiness at the opening of the Academy after a great and fruitful efforts by women.

She added "Women are still suffering injustice, so we must work through courses and awareness to involve women in all areas of life and equality with men in the management of society affairs."

Then, the head of the Women's Committee, Amina Berkel, member of the General Coordinator of Kongra Star Sara Khalil, the co-chairs of the Legislative Council, Fawza Abdi, and the member of the Democratic Union Party(PYD), Fatima Khalil delivered speeches.

The speeches congratulated opening of the first women's academy in Kobanî, hoping that the academy would be a platform for encouraging women to engage in all areas of life.

It is noteworthy that the academy aims to develop and educate women, and activate their role more in different areas of life.
