Women's steadfastness, will founded to liberate Afrin from Turkish occupation

On January 20 this year, the Turkish occupation army and tens of thousands of its mercenaries launched an attack on Afrin canton targeting the stone and human beings, forcing the inhabitants to flee for fear of genocide and war crimes committed by Turkey, especially against women.

All resorted to al-Shahba areas, which was not long liberated, so this region lacked the most reliable elements to start a new life. Member of the Coordinating Committee of Kongra Star Fatima Lacto, talked about the strong will of women in Afrin, and not surrender to the policies of the Turkish occupation state and its attacks, in an interview with the Hawar news agency.

At the beginning of her speech, Fatima Lacto recalled the heroic resistance demonstrated by the children of Afrin and the fighters of the People and Women Protection Units over the past 58 days in the fiercest attack since the beginning of the Syrian crisis. She pointed out that this resistance came as a result of the love of Afrin residents for their homeland and adherence to their land.

Fatima pointed out that the residents had to move from their homes towards the liberated areas of Shahba, as a result of the "attacks and brutality of the Turkish occupation army and its terrorist mercenaries.”

The women of Afrin lived very difficult moments under the bombing of Turkish aircraft and during the period of displacement to al-Shahba canton, where the convoys of displaced people have been attacked and bombed by the aircraft of the occupation army, and despite the displacement and suffering, the women of Afrin proved their will and determination to continue their struggle.

Fatima Lakto said "With the arrival of women to al-Shahba, they started to build a new life base," she said. Amidst the destruction which has been made by IS mercenaries and the mines they planted, women were able to build homes and protect their families amid the lack of daily necessities. With this strong will, I emphasized that women in Afrin have not and will not be vulnerable to fascist Turkey's policies. "

"Since the beginning of Rojava revolution, Kongra Star has opened intensive training courses for women, including the women of Afrin, as well as the opening of many projects that have opened the way for women to identify themselves, their personalities and their ability to organize themselves and the community.

She explained that the results of these exercises emerged after the displacement of Afrin people to al-Shahba areas. "Thanks to the conscious organization, we are as Afrin women of strong will, so we managed our affairs, and did not allow the wave of forced displacement to affect us."

Member of the Coordinating Committee of Kongra Star Fatima Lacto concluded that the struggle and steadfastness of the women in Afrin under the potential and difficult circumstances in al-Shahba canton would establish to liberate Afrin from the Turkish occupation.
