Worsening diesel crisis threatens life in al-Shahba

As a result of the Turkey’s and its mercenaries’ aggression on Afrin canton, thousands of families went al-Shahba canton, which in turn caused a large population, which led to the rise in the prices of raw materials, including fuel oil, which is one of the main materials for the continuation of life in the canton.

On the other hand, the Syrian regime follows its dirty policies towards the people of the canton, where the regime prevents the entry of diesel fuel to the canton. For their part, the mercenaries and the Turkish occupation prevent the entry of fuel oil and thus the canton is besieged from all sides.

With the arrival of harvest season and high temperatures, the canton is witnessing a real crisis in securing the fuel oil to harvest the wheat season and the operation of bakeries to secure the bread and the price per liter is to 300 SP and the price per barrel to 70 000 SP equivalent to 160 US dollars.

If the crisis worsens more, the canton will stop the lifeline and stop all "bakeries, water and electricity generators, and all agricultural and service machineries."

The General Coordinator of the Municipalities Council in al-Shahba canton Mohammed Ahmed said: "We suffer in this period from a crisis in the insurance of diesel fuel due to the embargo imposed on the canton, increasing the risk of harvesting crops and life in general in the canton."

Ahmed called on the human rights organizations, which are still turning a blind eye to the situation of the people in al-Shahba canton, to come out of their silence and extend a helping hand to the canton.

The owner of an electricity generator in Kafer Kares village in Fafin district Abdein Mustafa said, "With the high temperatures in Ramadan month, the people need electricity and coolers, and the interruption of fuel oil in the canton impedes the work of generators to secure electricity, we appeal to all countries to look at what is happening in the canton.
