Appeal from political detainees on June elections

The Prisons Committee related Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) released a statement on the parliamentary elections due to be held in Turkey on June 24.

The statement stressed the importance of these elections in terms of addressing (AKP-MHP) alliance. "These elections will eliminate (AKP-MHP) fascist alliance, but this will not happen on its own. It requires all the anti-fascist forces to strengthen and expand their organization and struggle. This struggle is not just about elections, it is a struggle against the fascist regime of genocide followed by fascist power, it is an important part of the overall resistance, we must know very well that dictatorships do not easily give up power, so they will do whatever they can to suppress, deny and persecute.” The statement added "So the most important work here is to strengthen the organization and go to the polls."

Confronting the fascist alliance is everyone's responsibility

The statement also stressed that the only approach to resolving the various issues is the Democratic People Party approach "The only approach to solving the problems of the Turkish people, especially the issues of women, youth, workers, beliefs and all advocates of justice, democracy and freedom is approach of Democratic Peoples Party. As the authorities continue to arrest Co-chair, deputies, Co–chairs of Municipalities and thousands of administrators of Democratic People Party, everyone is required to circumvent this party and work for its success.

The statement urged all families of detainees to carry out their responsibilities. "One of the leading forces in these elections are the families of the detainees. These forces represent the families of tens of thousands of these political prisoners who must fight instead of their children who have been unjustly arrested by the fascist authorities and subjected to repression and torture."

The Prisons Committee related to Kurdistan Workers’ Party appealed to all democratic forces, especially families of detainees, to carry out their responsibilities during the elections and to circumvent their candidates.
