Opening schools with their potential, appeal to Deir ez-Zor council for support

As every area which IS mercenaries have entered in, and worked to destroy all the infrastructure of that area, including schools, which are one of the most important institutions seeking to create a conscious generation that helps to build a free and advanced homeland.

Among those areas which ISIS have destroyed is schools and have reinforced and turned them into military points, and a place of spreading their extremist ideology among the people, especially the children, is the schools of Garaneij town in its east and west parts, which is located in Deir ez-Zor city, and have been liberated by Syrian Democratic Forces in the framework of the al-Jazeera Tempest campaign to liberate the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

Since the liberation of the town, the teachers of Garaneij have undertaken to teach the town's children and opening schools despite the absence of any form of support, including the textbooks, as IS mercenaries had burned them when they were controlling the town where the children are taught only reading and writing.

There are 23 schools in the town for all elementary, preparatory and secondary levels, now, there are 7,500 primary education students in these schools, the number of teachers who teach in primary school is 10 and students are taught free of charge.

In this context, the director of Garajeij east school, Mohammed Ali, said that schools suffer from severe shortages in all aspects, where schools lack textbooks, chairs, windows, doors and writing boards.

Al-Ali pointed out that they are now working on the restoration of the school from the construction of walls and toilets, and the construction of classrooms again as students are taking their lessons sitting on the ground because of the absence of desks burned by IS mercenaries.

Al-Ali noted that most of the lessons taught to students aim at teaching reading and writing only because there are no textbooks in the area.

At the end of his speech, Muhammad al-Ali has appealed to the Education Committee in Deir ez-Zor civil council to provide a helping hand for them to re-activate schools and provide textbooks.
