Selling by highway; a source of livelihood for Ain Issa people

The people of some of the villages located on the highway that passes through Ain Issa are dependent on the shops they opened as the sole source of livelihood for the residents and provide many job opportunities for the people of the area

Agricultural interruption and lack of access to jobs during the year, tens of villagers from Ain Issa district of Girê Sipî canton were forced to build simple groceries made of cane to secure their daily living and meet the demands of their homes.

The general highway connects Aleppo to al- Hasakah, passing through Ain Issa district, which is considered an important transport on highway. It is the only source of livelihood for the people of the villages passing by, where its people work by buying some foodstuffs and juices and sold to passengers on the highway.

These groceries all along the way include everything that travelers need from food, cold drinks and various food items, and groceries and restaurants on the highway offer small amounts of money to help them meet their families' needs and reach between 2000-3000 S.Y a day.

In this context, citizen Abdul Rahman al-Shaaban from al-Sharkrak village in the countryside of Ain Issa "With these harsh conditions, we are going through with the decline of agriculture, I have no source of livelihood for me and my family, but these modest stall to provide a good income for our livelihood."

The workers on the highway emphasize that their work is not new, but they have been working for years in this area to assure an income for their families.
