A step that will help the Serdem camp's people

Aiming to open the way to Afrin people who are living in Serdem camp in al-Shahba canton, to work in agriculture and secure income and self-sufficiency, the camp administration gave a piece of land estimated 2 acres for the people to plant vegetables.

The camp administration is responsible for purchasing fertilizer seeds for the people who wish to farm, and ensuring that the water is sufficient to water the vegetables.

The inhabitants of the land planted all kinds of vegetables such as tomatoes, marrow, eggplant, cucumber, parsley, mint and watercress.

Farmers complain of lack of water in the camp, as well as fertilizers, where they appealed to the camp administration to secure water. Farmer Mohammed Ahmed Sulaiman said they needed water and fertilizers to get good production.

Sulaiman pointed out that they will work hard to reach self-sufficiency and secure income, noting that after their departure from Afrin, their financial situation worsened somewhat.

Conditions have helped to make this move, as the soil of al-Shahba canton is fertile suitable for planting all kinds of vegetables. While a large proportion of the people work in agriculture, due to the nature of Afrin suitable for agriculture.

The move comes as part of projects aimed at helping Afrin people forcibly evicted from their homes as a result of the occupation of Afrin by the Turkish occupation army.

According to officials in the camp administration, they will continue to develop projects that will help the people.
