Kobani achieves self-sufficiency of vegetables

In the context of the siege imposed on Rojava and north Syria areas , the process of self-sufficiency of vegetables in covering the needs of the region, through self-reliance to meet their requirements, is an important step in the region.

Due to the wars in the region, politically and militarily, affecting all areas of life, even livelihoods, some regions in the northSyria have adopted self-sufficiency without the need for neighborhood.

According to supervisors, the vegetables planted in the canton fill the need for 300 villages in addition to the center of Kobani city

This year saw a remarkable cultivation of fruits (eggplant and squash), which planted 30 acres west of Kobani city as a proactive step to achieve self-sufficiency of all vegetables.

The supervisors in the field of agriculture confirmed that the experience of self-sufficiency has achieved great success. According to them, in the last year, no shipment of eggplant or squash has entered the province within 3 months. The quantities of these substances, which amounted to one ton of zucchini and eggplant, In the canton.

Near al-Quneya town , west of Kobani canton lying on the eastern banks of the Euphrates River, only 4 workers take care of the fruits placed in greenhouses, while the number rises to a few times when fruit harvesting times are over.
