Al-Tabqa's wedding ceremonies revived again

In al-Tabqa area, there are many customs that date back to hundreds of years, some of which are very old. The bride breaks a glass pot when she enters her new house (her husband’s house) in order to break the evil as they belief, the henna, singing, and al-Zilm walk are customs of al-Tabqa folklore.

Al-Tabqa wedding has many ceremonies accompanied by a few days' feast of lunch which is called al-Subha; a feast given by the bridegroom before his bride’s coming which is often made up of al-Thorid and mutton.

The father and siblings of the bridegroom, one or more days before the wedding, invite friends and relatives to lunch in honor of the bridegroom, "al-Subha"; an ancient Arab tradition that is still present in al-Tabqa.

In the house of the bride and two days before the wedding, the "henna" rites are held as part of a festive march on foot from the bridegroom's house to the bride's house. Two days later, the bride comes from the house of her family to the bridegroom's house and the women sing and accompany them to the house of her husband.

After the end of the wedding, the groom, relatives and friends circulate around the city’s streets.

It is worth mentioning that during the occupation of mercenaries of the Free Army and after them, al-Nusra mercenaries and IS mercenaries since the beginning of 2013, all the customs of the wedding ceremony have been prevented because of the dark thought which fought many of the customs and traditions of the people of the area.
