The US-based ABC news channel reported on Friday that the US support for Syria's "White Helmets", operating in areas under opposition control, has "completely stopped."
The channel said it had seen an internal US State Department document that the Near East Office was waiting for the green light from the State Department to continue providing financial support to the White Helmets by April 15.
But the lack of a clear decision forced it to stop funding for this group, as well as other relief groups working on mine clearance, distribution of food and the return of some services to work.
The White Helmets were founded by civilian volunteers in 2013 to aid those affected by the war in Syria, with more than 3,000 people.
Because there is no clear US administration decision on this aid, the Near East Office was forced to stop all support for relief groups until a decision on support was reached.
