Martyr Mazloum Bakok's prizes distributed by YRA

By the 120th anniversary of the Kurdish Press Day on April 22, the Free Media Association organized a ceremony in which the Martyr Mazloum Bakok awards were distributed to journalists who took the best pictures and videos and wrote the best article in the world press, Kurdistan and Rojava.

The ceremony was held at Mohammed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in Qamişlo city, attended by representatives of Democratic Autonomous  Administration in al-Jazeera Region region and hundreds of journalists and families of martyrs who were martyred during the transfer of facts and events during the battles of the Syrian Democratic Forces against IS  mercenaries and the Turkish occupation army in northern Syria.

The ceremony began by holding a minute of silence, and the Kurdish writer and journalist Rashad Surgul gave a speech on the history of the Kurdish press and the stages it went through and said, "The history of the Kurdish press began with the establishment of the first Kurdish newspaper in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on April 22, 1898, in the name of the Kurdistan newspaper during which the Kurdish journalists made a lot of sacrifices in order to revive the history and culture of Kurdish, which was subjected to cultural, social and economic denial by the Chauvinist regimes and governing the geography of Kurdistan.

Then the co-chair of Constituent Assembly of the Democratic Federation of Rojava and the Syrian North Hadia Yousif also gave a speech in which she congratulated Kurdish Press Day with all the Kurdish media figures and said "In order to convey the truth of the Kurdish people's revolution and expose the policies of the regimes that are far from the human conscience, The Kurdish media gave a lot of sacrifices and worked to expose these practices by conveying the facts that the Kurdish people live in all of Kurdistan. "

The ceremony was concluded by the co-chair of the Free Media Association Akram Barakat and Shahnaz Osman, who recalled "the martyrs of the Kurdish press who contributed to the transfer of facts to public opinion and made the sacrifices for them to continue their approach."
