Austria ban organization of Turkish election campaigns on its lands

Austria strongly opposes Turkey's entry into the European Union, and its position comes after Turkish President Recep Teyyip Erdogan announced early presidential and parliamentary elections in June, 16 months ahead of schedule.
Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz told EUF radio in remarks broadcast on Friday "Erdogan's Turkish leadership has been trying to exploit communities of Turkish origin in Europe for many years ".

He added "The manifestations of Turkish election campaigns in Austria are not desirable and we will not allow them anymore."
Countries such as the Netherlands have banned Turkish politicians from holding election campaigns in support of Erdogan's referendum to transform the country's system from parliamentary to presidential, causing a crisis between the two countries.

Observers believe that Erdogan is seeking early elections to ensure victory, and confirm the fear of Erdogan's loss in the event of the time due to the deteriorating economic conditions in the country and the poor policy of the ruling party led by Erdogan, both internally and externally.

The Turkish-Austrian relations are generally tense, especially after Vienna demanded that Ankara's accession talks with the European Union be halted because of Ankara's cleansing campaign following the failed July 15 coup attempt.
