Earthquakes shook Japan, authorities warned of others

A series of earthquakes shook western Japan on Friday dawn, and it resulted in injuring 5 people and inflicting damage to buildings and roads, while the authorities warned of happening more severe earthquakes in the coming days.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said that an earthquake measuring 5.8 degrees struck at 16:32 GMT at a depth of 10 kilometers, causing severe tremors in the areas of Shimane province the overlooks the coast Japan Sea.

"We are asking areas with strong earthquakes to be vigilant during the week, as earthquakes with a magnitude of five can occur again," agency official Toshiyuki Matsumori told a news conference.

The official of Toshiyuki Matsumori Agency said in press conference, "We ask the people in the areas witnessing strong earthquakes to be vigilant during the week as earthquakes with a magnitude of 5 might occur again."

5 people were injured in the earthquake; one of them is a 17-year-old boy whose leg was broken when he fell from his bed.

The US Geological Survey Body said that the first earthquake’s magnitude was 5.6, and it was at a depth of 7 kilometers.
