The North and East Syria Violations Documentation Center revealed a rise in abductions and arbitrary detentions targeting citizens across areas controlled by the Syrian transitional government.

The center’s report, released today, stated that at least 14 Kurdish citizens were abducted since the beginning of September 2025 in various locations, including occupied Afrin, Aleppo, and Damascus.

The report confirmed that most abductions occurred through forced home raids, involving door-breaking and looting of property, in addition to detaining individuals at checkpoints and on roads without knowledge of their destination or the charges against them.

According to the center’s statistics, the number of Kurds abducted from the beginning of 2025 until the end of August reached 190 people, including 2 children and 9 women, as well as 56 sick detainees, 31 of whom are in urgent need of medical care.

The report indicated that the actual number is likely higher due to some families refraining from reporting their relatives’ names for security reasons.

Occupied Afrin, held by Turkey and its mercenaries since 2018, recorded the highest proportion of these violations amid a rise in hate speech and incitement against the Kurdish people.

The center confirmed that all abductions occurred without judicial warrants or official arrest orders, making them a blatant violation of Syrian law and international human rights standards, noting that contact with the detainees was lost immediately after abduction.

The documentation center called on international powers and human rights organizations to exert pressure to halt these practices, ensure accountability for those responsible, and disclose the fate of the abductees while safeguarding them physically and psychologically.
