12.9 million liters of diesel allocated to meet Jazira's needs

Diesel is a key fuel for operating generators, supplying water and running bakeries. Statistics highlight the extent of reliance on fuel across service sectors, as well as differences in demand between cities and towns.

1,521 generators rely on diesel

A total of 1,521 generators are included in the fuel allocations, distributed across several cities and towns as follows: 575 in Hasakah, 501 in Qamishlo, 77 in Derbesiyeh, 77 in Tel Brak, 70 in Amuda, 52 in Çil Agha, 82 in Derik, 28 in Girkê Legê, 19 in Zerkan, 19 in Serekaniye, 16 in Tel Tamr and six in Kograt.

These generators require approximately 11,789,478 liters of diesel per month, while around 300 tankers are allocated monthly to meet their needs.

Water: 216 wells and 266 tankers

In the water sector, there are 216 water wells and supply points, which receive approximately 489,320 liters of diesel per month, with 14 tankers allocated monthly.

Meanwhile, 266 water tankers transport water and receive approximately 441,000 liters of diesel per month.

Bakeries included in fuel allocations

The allocations also include seven bakeries, which receive approximately 218,000 liters of diesel per month, with six tankers allocated to them monthly.

Diesel use therefore extends beyond powering generators to the water, bakery and water transportation sectors, all of which are directly linked to meeting residents’ daily needs.

451 tankers compared with 20 tankers per day

Statistics show that the previous requirements for covering these quantities and distributing them amounted to 451 tankers, while current allocations to cities have fallen to around 20 tankers per day, alongside other production facilities that also receive diesel allocations.

The gap between demand and allocations highlights the importance of fuel distribution mechanisms across different sectors, particularly as generators, water facilities and bakeries rely heavily on diesel to maintain their operations.

Fuel prices

Diesel prices vary according to the type of allocation. Subsidized diesel allocated to generators and bakeries costs 125 Syrian pounds per liter, while diesel allocated for local transportation, water tankers and water wells costs 525 Syrian pounds per liter. Free-market diesel is priced at 0.7 cents, while gasoline costs 0.55 cents.

According to the figures, generators account for the largest share of diesel demand, followed by water facilities, water tankers and bakeries, making the regular supply and distribution of fuel a key factor in maintaining essential services across the cities and towns of the region.
