1 killed, another injured in two explosions in Raqqa countryside, Aleppo

A civilian was killed and another injured in Raqqa countryside and Aleppo due to explosions from war remnants in two separate incidents. These incidents reflect the growing danger posed by the continued spread of unexploded ordnance across Syria and the lack of effective solutions to address it.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported today that one person was killed due to a landmine explosion left from the war. The victim was inside his car in front of the al-Aqtan camp gate in Ain Issa town, north of Raqqa countryside.

The SOHR added that in a separate incident, a civilian sustained varying degrees of injuries in al-Shuyukh area in the eastern countryside of Kobani, east of Aleppo, after a landmine exploded. He was driving a tractor during agricultural work. After that, he was transferred to a medical center for treatment.

These incidents come amid the widespread presence of war remnants and military operations in most Syrian territories, continuing to cause deaths and injuries among civilians in the absence of comprehensive solutions to eliminate this ongoing threat.

According to the SOHR’s tally alone, the number of civilians killed since January until today due to explosions of explosive objects and ordnance has reached 149 people, including 49 children and 7 women.
