YPJ: We bear full responsibility without hesitation in protecting our people in Sweida

The General Command of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) issued a statement regarding the bloody events in the city of Sweida and the heinous crimes and violations to which women and civilians are subjected.

The statement reads as follows:

"We condemn and denounce the massacre being perpetrated against the Druze people, and we affirm our support for women and civilians. Attacks by extremist jihadist groups led by the Damascus government have once again targeted innocent civilians. This systematic violence against the Druze, and the massacres and brutal attacks on women, constitute a direct threat to human dignity and women's freedom.

We, the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), strongly condemn these brutal attacks. The goal of kidnapping women, children, and civilians is contrary to any moral or humanitarian concept. Concepts of this kind are hostile to diverse beliefs, to the freedom of peoples, and to the very existence of women. The Druze people are not alone. We, the women warriors, are ready to stand against any assault on the will of the people, the right to life, and the belief in freedom.

If called upon, we are fully prepared to confront all attacks by dark forces targeting women. To protect Druze women and civilians, we will shoulder all the responsibility placed upon us without hesitation. As the Women's Protection Units, standing against attacks on women and oppressed peoples wherever they occur is not only our duty, but the very foundation of our existence.

The perpetrators of the massacres of Druze women must be held accountable, the killers brought to justice, and the necessary justice served. The struggle for the brotherhood of peoples, women's freedom, and interfaith coexistence must not be allowed to take a single step backward. We stand with the Druze people, and women will never be silent, nor will they bow their heads.
