YPJ fighters: We will fight for all the women of the world

The region of North and East Syria welcomes International Women's Day with extensive activities and celebrations, reflecting the prominent role women play in various fields of life, especially in resisting occupation and facing political and social challenges.

This year's celebrations are held under the slogan "With the Philosophy of Woman, Life, Freedom, Towards a Democratic Syria" and are characterized by a spirit of struggle that reflects the journey of women in freedom and resistance. Women's institutions and community events organize marches, seminars, and cultural festivals, in addition to honoring the fighters and activists who have made significant sacrifices for freedom and equality.

These events come amid the continued attacks by the Turkish occupation against the region, making March 8 an occasion to renew the pledge to escalate the struggle and protect the achievements made by women in North and East Syria, where the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) and women's institutions play a pivotal role in affirming the role of women as an effective force in building a free and just society.

In this context, fighter Esl Berhat congratulated all the women fighters and resistors around the world, praising the role of the Women's Protection Units in confronting the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and the role of the mothers who continue the struggle in the Tishrin Dam.

Berhat said: "As fighters in the Women's Protection Units, we see that protecting women is our duty at all times, and we will continue our struggle against all threats targeting them."

She pointed out that the thought and philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan played a significant role in the spread of women's struggle in the Middle East and the world, affirming that the Women's Protection Units have proven their capabilities in protecting women from oppression, especially during their battles against the mercenaries of ISIS, who "erased the identity of women and wanted to keep them in the darkness of extremist thought."

She added: "All the practices of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, as well as the authoritarian mentality, have been shattered thanks to the struggle of the Women's Protection Units, which spread the philosophy of 'Women, Life, Freedom'."

Escalation of resistance against the Turkish occupation

For her part, fighter Leila Arab congratulated leader Abdullah Ocalan and all the women of the world on this occasion, affirming that "the resistance shown by women has become a source of inspiration for the women's revolution and has established the existence of women's protection units, which include all the components of the region and struggle for all women."

She pointed out that the Turkish occupation does not only target the areas defended by the Women's Protection Units, but also uses a "special war against us," affirming that the fighters in the Tishrin Dam, Qaraquzaq, and various battlefronts "will escalate their struggle and confront the occupation with a free ideological stance derived from the thoughts of leader Abdullah Ocalan."

Leyla Arab affirmed that "organizing women's strength and willpower will enable them to continue the struggle, and we will be worthy of the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives for women's freedom."

She concluded her speech by saying: "Our path is the path of freedom and struggle. We will protect our people and our women from violence and tyranny, and we will be an impregnable barrier against anyone who tries to target women and their rights."
