Yazidi cleric calls for Kurdish unity to protect rights

Calls for unifying the Kurdish political position are increasing, as many see it as an urgent necessity to overcome party divisions and preserve national rights.

In this context, Yazidi cleric Anwar Dalf said that Kurds are required to unify their position despite the existence of multiple parties and work for the Kurdish cause away from personal interests, recalling the famous saying of Kurdish poet Cegerxwîn: “If we do not unite, we will disappear one after another.”

Dalf added that the current stage requires Kurdish unity across the four parts of Kurdistan, stressing that unity has become an imposed necessity to overcome the challenges facing the Kurdish people, while party divisions will not guarantee the protection of their rights.

He pointed out that Kurds will not be able to preserve their rights if they remain divided and driven by personal interests. He also noted that the existence of dozens of Kurdish parties today creates a state of fragmentation, as each party has its own vision. Therefore, these visions and ideas should come together to formulate a unified Kurdish position.

He stressed the importance of establishing a unified Kurdish reference body agreed upon by all sides to organize and unify political decision-making.

Dalf further stated that the targeting of Kurds does not distinguish between political parties, but rather targets Kurdish identity as a whole. This, he said, requires unity across all four parts of Kurdistan and avoiding being dragged into the policies of enemies. He also referred to the experience of Kurdish unity during attacks on Rojava.

He called for holding a comprehensive Kurdish conference across Kurdistan that would lead to the formation of a unified Kurdish authority to protect Kurdish existence and rights, considering that a unified stance could eventually become a “shared legacy” bringing Kurds together under one vision.

Anwar Dalf concluded by urging politicians, intellectuals, and religious leaders to work seriously toward achieving Kurdish unity, describing it as an “essential pillar” for ensuring a strong and unified Kurdish voice.
