Women’s organizations in Hasaka demand immediate release of Leader Ocalan

The Women’s Economy Committee and Kongra Star in Hasaka, Jazira Canton, issued a public statement with wide participation from members of the committee and Kongra Star, as well as representatives of civil and military institutions and women’s organizations in Hasaka.

The statement was read in two languages: in Kurdish by teacher Nabiha Omar and in Arabic by Johar Muhammad, an administrator in the Economic Committee of Kongra Star, in the 4th of April Park in the city center.

The statement emphasized that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s continued detention for more than 26 years under harsh conditions, without any notable improvement, constitutes a flagrant violation of international laws and conventions, and a clear challenge to all principles claiming to defend human rights.

It further stated that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s imprisonment is not merely the detention of an individual, but the imprisonment of a liberatory ideology and a democratic vision aimed at resolving the crises of the Middle East through peaceful means. The statement highlighted that Leader Ocalan has presented a political project based on social justice, the right of peoples to self-determination, and peaceful coexistence among religions and cultures.

The statement also stressed that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s project places great importance on “the role of women in building a communal, society-based economy,” enabling them to strengthen their economic thought and identity within the community.

Despite the historic appeal made by Leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 27 of this year, in which he called for peace, freedom, and democracy for all the peoples of the region, the Turkish authorities continue to impose strict isolation on him and ignore all international campaigns and initiatives demanding a meeting with him and his release.

The participating women from Hasaka expressed their full solidarity with all global campaigns demanding an end to Leader Ocalan’s isolation, affirming their support for the calls for his immediate and unconditional release.

At the end of the statement, the women’s organizations issued an appeal to all international human rights organizations, intellectuals, freedom advocates, and activists around the world to raise their voices and pressure the international community to put an end to Leader Ocalan’s isolation and ensure his physical freedom.

The statement concluded with slogans denouncing the isolation and affirming continued struggle until Leader Ocalan gains his full freedom.
