Women’s delegation from NE Syria meets international organization to strengthen Support 

The delegation from North and East Syria met yesterday, Monday, in Berlin with “Women for Women International,” an organization dedicated to supporting women in war and conflict-affected regions worldwide.

Both parties discussed the challenges facing Syrian women and the obstacles hindering their role in building a democratic and decentralized Syria, in addition to the risks and threats faced by women from various communities and attempts to exclude them from leadership roles commensurate with their activism and struggle.

The discussion also highlighted the pivotal role women play in North and East Syria in advancing the Autonomous Administration project, strengthening social cohesion, and contributing to the construction of a participatory democratic system.

Both sides stressed the importance of joint women’s efforts and the need to support projects focused on women and their empowerment across different spheres.

This meeting is part of a European diplomatic tour launched by the women’s delegation from North and East Syria on September 6, during which they met with a number of human rights and women’s organizations, as well as members of the French Parliament, and participated in lectures, cultural events, and artistic festivals.

The delegation includes Amina Omar, an administrator in the Women’s Council in North and East Syria; Mona Al-Youssef, spokesperson for the Syrian Women’s Council; Shahrazad Al-Jassim, spokesperson for the Women of Zenobia Gathering; Jian Hussein, a member of the Kongra Star Coordination; and Georgette Barsom, President of the Syriac Women’s Union.
