Women in al-Jazira region spoke about the importance of reinforcing Kurdish unity amid the sensitive stage currently facing the Middle East. They stressed that solidarity is a fundamental factor in protecting achievements and fulfilling the aspirations of the Kurdish people.

Nisrin Ali, Co-Chair of the Martyrs’ Families Council in Ad-Derbasiyah city, stated that “the current period is one of the most sensitive and significant stages for the Kurdish people.” She pointed out that the betrayal experienced by the Kurdish people in previous years resulted in many martyrs and prisoners and had a profound impact on the Kurdish people and their achievements.

She added that the Rojava Revolution has gone through numerous phases and challenges since its launch in 2012, noting, “However, the current stage is the most difficult compared to previous periods.”

Nisrin stressed the need to renew the spirit of resistance within the Rojava Revolution, explaining that this requires a greater role from political parties, as no revolution can continue without strong politics, diplomacy, and organization. She called on Kurdish parties to assume their true responsibilities during this critical phase.

She also pointed out that there are many Kurdish parties pursuing different policies and noted that Kurdish parties have so far failed to achieve the desired unity despite the difficult circumstances facing the Kurdish people. She emphasized that the policies implemented over the past years did not target a single party alone but rather all Kurds and all Kurdish political parties.

Nisrin added that the lack of unity among Kurdish parties leaves the Kurdish people vulnerable and easily weakened. She stressed that the current stage requires cooperation and joint action among all parties, as Kurdish unity is the only way to protect the achievements secured through the sacrifices of martyrs and resistance fighters.

For her part, Abir Hassan, spokesperson for the Women’s Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Ad-Derbasiyah, affirmed that the region is currently experiencing one of its most difficult and dangerous periods. She noted that major conspiracies are targeting the Kurdish people and their political and social achievements.

She added that the new phase requires recognition of the importance of Kurdish political parties and the necessity of their unity. She stressed that current circumstances compel all Kurdish parties to unite and work under a common will, shared demands, a unified slogan, and a common goal to protect the rights of the Kurdish people, who have resisted and made sacrifices over the past years.

She explained that the achievements of the revolution were made possible through the struggle of the Kurdish people, warning that the absence of Kurdish unity and the failure to agree on a common position and slogan could lead to the loss of those achievements. She stressed that everyone must recognize this reality during this sensitive period.

Abir Hassan also highlighted the crucial role of women in achieving Kurdish unity, noting that women have always been at the forefront of the struggle for freedom, peace, and democracy. She said that women have played a pivotal role throughout all stages of the revolution, whether in resistance efforts or in political, organizational, and social work.

She further pointed out that women who fought in the mountains and made great sacrifices for peace and a democratic society have become a prominent example of women’s leadership. Guided by the ideas of Abdullah Ocalan, they worked toward building a democratic society and achieving peace.

Concluding her remarks, Abir Hassan stated that women struggle without expecting anything in return because they embody justice, truth, and life. She emphasized that the role of women is not limited to a single sphere but extends to all aspects of life, and that women are capable of playing a leading role in unifying the Kurdish ranks and achieving the shared goals of the Kurdish people.
