The Director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said today, Sunday, that the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip is out of service, after being besieged for a week and then stormed by the Israeli army. He confirmed that there are patients who need urgent transfer to other medical facilities.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus explained, on his account on the (X) platform: “Our team was not allowed to enter the hospital yesterday and the day before yesterday to evaluate patients’ conditions and urgent medical needs.” According to the Arab World News Agency.

Ghebreyesus noted: “There are about 200 patients still in (Nasser) Hospital in Gaza, of whom at least 20 need to be transferred urgently to other hospitals.”

The spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra, also confirmed that the second largest hospital in the Gaza Strip was “out of service,” and that there are only four medical staff members taking care of patients inside Nasser Hospital in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Strip.

Al-Qudra explained: “The Nasser Hospital being out of service is a death sentence for hundreds of thousands of citizens and displaced people in the Khan Yunis and Rafah area, because the Nasser Medical Complex is considered the backbone of health services in southern Gaza.”

Nasser Hospital is the second largest hospital in the Gaza Strip.
