What resulted from coordination meeting on municipal work in Aleppo?

After a meeting that lasted approximately two hours at the Mazaj Cafeteria, located in the Al-Jabanet area in the eastern Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, the two parties agreed to increase coordination by holding future meetings in this regard, and for the Aleppo City Council to provide appropriate capabilities to serve the two neighborhoods fairly, in line with the needs of their residents.

Among those present at the meeting were Deputy Governor of Aleppo, Ali Hanoura, and City Council Chairman, Muhammad Ali Al-Aziz.

While ANHA's correspondent was following the meeting, several interventions were monitored by those in charge, including Muhammad Ali al-Aziz, head of the Aleppo City Council affiliated with the Damascus authorities. He called for "full rights" to be given to the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, and for services to be redistributed to compensate for the years of marginalization under the Ba'ath regime.

Suraqa Amouri, head of the General Security Service affiliated with the Damascus authorities, said that the Syrian people are united as one jewel. He accused the collapsed Ba'ath regime of inciting fragmentation among the communities, and that its demise would mean the removal of all obstacles to the unity of the Syrian people.

For her part, the co-chair of the General Council of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods said that fascist regimes that rely on the language of discrimination are the cause of division, arguing that such a model threatens the future of the country. She also stated that they had offered their best sons to participate in defending the two neighborhoods and Aleppo as a whole, concluding her remarks by emphasizing the necessity of active participation in rebuilding Syria.

The meeting continued to discuss the mechanisms for providing the required services, as well as the nature of these services, obstacles, and emergency needs in the two neighborhoods. It also addressed the removal of remnants of war and other service-related issues.

This meeting comes within the framework of implementing the terms of the agreement signed on April 1st between the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh Neighborhood Councils and representatives of the Damascus authorities. Articles 11 and 13 of the agreement stipulate:

"Ensuring full and fair representation for the two neighborhoods in the Aleppo Provincial Council, and their participation in the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other relevant fields in accordance with the governing laws. Furthermore, existing service, administrative, educational, municipal, and local council institutions in the two neighborhoods will be maintained until a permanent solution is reached through the joint central committees."

After the meeting, the two parties embarked on an inspection tour of several locations in the two neighborhoods to examine the living conditions and services provided to the residents.

It is worth noting that this meeting represents a first step towards strengthening administrative and service cooperation between the two parties, serving the residents of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods and paving the way for more effective coordination mechanisms in the future.
