Week of drone strikes and ceasefire violations in Sweida

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights issued a report documenting the security breaches and drone attacks in the axes of Sweida and its countryside. Light and medium weapons were used during these incidents, resulting in casualties among civilians and local fighters.

Among the violations was a failed infiltration attempt carried out by armed groups from areas controlled by the Transitional Government forces, on the Rimat Hazem–Olgha axis northwest of the city. Fierce clashes erupted simultaneously with drone activity in the skies.

Other axes, including Kharbat Samer–Ara, witnessed intermittent clashes, during which civilian homes were targeted with heavy machine guns of 23 mm caliber.

Earlier, on October 27, the Transitional Government forces carried out around twelve drone attacks targeting positions of the National Guard near the Naql checkpoint on the Duwar al-Omran–Olgha road, injuring seven members.

Villages such as Kharbat Samer, Olgha, Ta‘la, al-Ayyat, Rimat, Hazem, Ara, and Umm Zaytoun have been subjected to repeated bombardments and violations on an almost daily basis.

On October 28, a deadly incident occurred on the Damascus–Sweida highway, where a young man and woman lost their lives and eleven civilians were injured when unidentified gunmen attacked a passenger bus near Marjana station, sparking public anger and chaos across the governorate.

These developments reflect the worsening state of insecurity in Sweida and the failure of the ceasefire agreement to calm the situation, in addition to the ongoing siege imposed on the city and its countryside — a clear breach of the U.S.-sponsored truce.
