Wave of forced displacement hits al-Mazra’a in rural Homs amid local warnings

The predominantly Shiite village of al-Mazra’a in western rural Homs, Syria, is witnessing a wave of forced displacement, reportedly carried out by armed groups, following threats issued to residents through warnings of the demolition of a large number of homes. This comes days after an entire neighborhood in the village was demolished, according to ANHA correspondent.

Information indicates a new escalation targeting the area, with a series of violations recorded, including killings on sectarian grounds, arbitrary arrests, and vandalism of cemeteries, in addition to evacuation notices affecting several villages, amid a continued deterioration of the security situation.

These developments coincide with a rise in killing incidents, fueling fears of an expansion of violence and the emergence of new waves of displacement.

ANHA agency has previously documented similar incidents in several Syrian regions, reporting forced displacement and violations against civilians attributed to authorities affiliated with Syria’s interim government, which in some cases resulted in villages and areas being emptied of their residents.

Observers warn that the continuation of such practices could exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and threaten social stability, amid growing calls for the protection of civilians and an end to violations.
