Warning issued to residents of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor as Euphrates water level rises

The Director General of the General Establishment of the Euphrates Dam, Haitham Bakour, issued a warning through the media to residents of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor governorates against approaching the Euphrates River, amid an expected increase in the quantities of water released from the Kdieran Dam over the coming days.

Bakour said that the amount of water released from the Kdieran Dam is scheduled to reach 1,200 cubic meters per second starting next Tuesday, with water releases at this rate expected to continue until mid-October.

Bakour called on residents to stay away from the Euphrates River and exercise caution and vigilance, as the increased volume of released water could lead to higher river levels and faster water flow.

The Director General of the General Establishment of the Euphrates Dam noted that monitoring of the dams’ structural and operational conditions is continuing, alongside monitoring water inflows, water levels, and the quantities of water being released.

On September 15, the General Establishment of the Euphrates Dam announced that it had opened Spillway Gate No. 6 at the Euphrates Dam, increasing the amount of water released through the dams to approximately 1,100 cubic meters per second, as part of operational measures to deal with increased water inflows.
