Voting begins in S. Kurdistan's Federal Parliament elections

This morning, the people of Southern Kurdistan headed to the ballot boxes to cast their votes in the parliamentary elections of the Federal Region of Southern Kurdistan.

According to Roj News Agency, the number of voters in the Kurdistan Region is (2,899,615) biometrically registered voters, who will vote in (1,266) polling centers, with (6,318) polling stations.

The Electoral Commission prepared all logistical materials for the election day, printing (3,077,550) ballot papers for the general vote, which included (136) electoral lists (1,191) candidates, including (368) female candidates, (84) individual candidates for general seats, (20) individual candidates for Turkmen seats, and (18) individual candidates for Christian seats.

The Commission selected (40,901) polling staff, and trained them on voting procedures, and the mechanism for using electoral devices, which numbered (7,067) devices for accelerating results and their equivalent verification devices, and (1,431) transmission devices, in addition to backup devices.

To ensure the integrity of the electoral process, the Electoral Commission has prepared a plan to distribute the cameras, which numbered (22,283) cameras,  (4) cameras for each polling center, two cameras for each polling station, and (4) backup cameras for each registration center, in addition to (50) cameras distributed over (4) audit centers. 

The number of international observers reached (1,830), in addition to (9,610) local observers, and (43,139) political party agents.
