Through its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the Treasury imposed sanctions on several companies operating in trade, shipping and maritime services, as well as insurance firms linked to Iran or accused by Washington of supporting Iran's oil sector.

The sanctions target companies registered in Hong Kong, the Marshall Islands, and Iran, including Billion Nexus International, Confident Apex, Marinova Shipping, Chi Hang Ship Management, as well as Hormoz Safe Sea Services and the Persian Gulf Marine Insurance Company, both of which the Treasury said are also subject to secondary sanctions.

The Treasury also added several oil and chemical tankers to its sanctions list, including Al Salmy, Breeze, Crystal, Nerita, and Yehoub, along with other vessels flying the flags of Barbados, Vanuatu, Mozambique, and the Marshall Islands.

The Treasury said the measures are part of ongoing US efforts to target networks accused of facilitating Iranian oil exports and to tighten restrictions on commercial and maritime activities linked to Tehran.
