US Congressman: Attacks on US allies in NE Syria unacceptable

Pallone expressed deep concern over what he described as credible reports indicating advances by mercenaries of Syria’s interim government, alongside Turkey, against “the United States’ Kurdish allies in northern Syria.”

He stressed that any further attacks on these forces, who played a pivotal role in defeating ISIS and remain a key ally of Washington, are unacceptable, urging an immediate reduction in tensions.

Pallone’s remarks come as crimes and violations against civilians continue in the Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid neighborhoods of Aleppo, while mercenaries of Syria’s interim government, backed by the Turkish occupation, persist in military mobilization around the city of Deir Hafir, threatening to launch an assault. This is accompanied by heavy weapons fire and drone attacks on the city, located in the countryside of the Tabqa region.

Pallone’s position aligns with statements by US Senator Lindsey Graham, who said that any military escalation by Syria’s interim government and Turkey against North and East Syria “will be met with a broad bipartisan response in the United States.”
