Upcoming events to commemorate Helincê Massacre’s martyrs
On June 23, 2020, the Turkish occupation state committed a massacre in the village of Helincê, located in Kobani, which resulted in the martyrdom of three members of the Kongra Star coordination. To mark the fifth anniversary of the massacre, Kongra Star is organizing a series of events starting with a tree-planting initiative and continuing through the end of this month.

On June 23, 2020, the Turkish occupation state carried out an airstrike targeting the village of Helincê in Kobani, resulting in the martyrdom of Kongra Star members Zehra Berkel, Hebûn Mele Xelîl and Emîne Weysî.
In commemoration of the three martyred activists, Kongra Star in the Euphrates Canton has announced a series of activities that will begin with planting trees at the site of the massacre before June 23.
A gathering is also scheduled to take place at the Baqi Khido Center for Culture and Arts in the city of Kobani at 10:00 a.m. on the day of remembrance (June 23), followed by a candlelight vigil at the massacre site at 7:00 p.m.
Additionally, a public gathering will be held at Martyr Egîd Square at 6:00 p.m. on June 30 to honor the memory of the massacre’s martyrs and Martyr Zilan (Zeyneb Kinacî).
