Turkish occupation mercenaries obstruct repair of water station
Zozan Khalil, co-chair of the Euphrates Canton Water Authority, revealed that Turkish occupation mercenaries targeted and opened fire on emergency teams as they went to repair the Upper Sheikler drinking water station.
On February 2nd, the water station in the village of Upper Sheikler in Kobani was bombed by Turkish occupation aircraft, putting it out of service. When emergency teams attempted to repair it, they were shot at by Turkish occupation mercenaries.
Zozan Khalil, co-chair of the Euphrates Canton Water Authority, commented on this incident, saying: "On March 26th, we went again to the Sheikler village water station to repair it, but we and our employees were shot at by Turkish occupation mercenaries in Jarabulus. On April 11th, we tried to go to the station again, but they opened fire on us again." She explained, "Despite the Turkish occupation state's talk of peace, this incident proves otherwise. The station is an essential means of serving the people, and water represents a symbol of life, yet the occupation seeks to end this life."
She added, "Employees of the Zormghar station, which provides drinking water to 11 villages, are also being shot at."
Zozan Khalil referred to their projects that have been halted due to the attacks, saying, "Because of the attacks by the Turkish occupation state, our projects have been completely halted. Our project in Sheikhler reached its final stages, but we have now suspended it due to the occupation's attacks. The three main projects in Sheikhler, Zormghar, and Jab al-Faraj have been halted."
Zozan Khalil concluded by saying, "We call on human rights organizations to prevent attacks by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries so that we can serve the people."
