Turkish mercenaries close Afrin Shops, before confiscation

Local sources in occupied Afrin reported that the so-called “Economic Administration Office,” affiliated with Turkish-backed mercenaries, has launched a new campaign to close industrial shops using red wax, under pretexts of legal justifications. 

Shop owners organized a protest march today in front of the so-called “Economic Administration” office, rejecting attempts to manipulate the law and confiscate their livelihoods.

They stressed that these measures are part of systematic policies aimed at controlling their property, depriving them of income, and forcing them to migrate from their areas.

Sources confirmed that these practices are not new. Turkish-backed mercenaries in occupied Afrin continue to impose taxes and levies on locals, alongside campaigns of confiscation and looting of property and agricultural products.

These unlawful measures coincide with ongoing theft of agricultural crops, particularly olives, with previous reports indicating that mercenaries seized more than 900 olive trees in Bulbul town and other areas of Afrin’s countryside.

Residents of Afrin are calling for urgent intervention by international authorities and human rights organizations to halt these violations against their livelihoods, especially amid the severe deterioration of living and economic conditions in the region.
