The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced today the issuance of detention orders for 36 individuals—including the mayor of the Çankaya district—as part of an investigation into allegations of bribery and bid-rigging.

The office stated that authorities have detained 27 suspects, while efforts to locate the remaining wanted individuals are ongoing.

For his part, Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, a member of the Republican People's Party (CHP), confirmed via the platform X that he had informed authorities of his whereabouts. He emphasized that his administration had adhered to the law and committed no wrongdoing, adding that he would provide a public statement once the details of the investigation became clear.

This case is part of a series of investigations targeting municipalities governed by the CHP; while the Turkish government asserts the independence of the judiciary, the opposition party maintains that these investigations are politically motivated.
