Organizers of a humanitarian aid convoy heading to the city of Kobani reported today that Turkish authorities blocked the convoy from crossing the border and sent it back to the city of Amed in Northern Kurdistan.

The convoy, organized by the Solidarity with Kobani Platform, departed from Amed on Saturday and included 25 trucks carrying water, infant formula, and blankets. The aid was intended for delivery to Kobani, which has been receiving large numbers of displaced people due to recent attacks by factions affiliated with the Interim Government on areas of Rojava and North and East Syria.

The organizers explained that the trucks were stopped at the Suruç border crossing opposite Kobani, where they had hoped to obtain an official permit allowing passage. However, the request was rejected. They stated: “Despite all efforts, the trucks were not allowed to pass into Kobani,” adding that “since the delegation itself was also denied permission, the trucks returned to Amed.”
