Tulay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan re-elected as DEM Party Co-Chairs

Tulay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan were re-elected as co-chairs of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) during the party’s Fifth Ordinary Congress, held in Ankara with the participation of around 600 delegates.

The Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party is holding its Fifth Ordinary Congress at the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center in Ankara’s Yenimahalle district, with a large number of delegates attending from cities across Northern Kurdistan and Turkey.

A banner reading “Women, Life, Freedom” was displayed on the balcony of the conference hall. Peace Mothers also attended the congress, along with DBP Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır; SODAP spokesperson Kezban Konukçu; SYKP Chair Mertcan Titiz; Revolutionary Unity Party Chair Elif Turun; Green Left Party co-spokesperson Ahmet Asena; and Democratic Unity Initiative spokesperson Kolcan Çağmaz Sayyiğit, as well as members and representatives of political parties and civil society organizations.

DEM Party Co-Chairs Tulay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan delivered speeches at the congress. Following the speeches, the party’s activity and financial reports were presented, while the Women’s Council and Youth Council also submitted reports on their activities.

Elections were then held with a single list, with nearly 600 delegates taking part in the vote. The results saw Tuncer Bakırhan and Tulay Hatimoğulları re-elected as co-chairs of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party.
