Tribal leaders, dignitaries of Raqqa condemn violations in Sweida

Today, the tribal leaders and dignitaries of Raqqa delivered their statement at the Council of Elders building in Raqqa city, which was read by Saddam Al-Harmat, a notable figure and member of the Relations Office of the Internal Security Forces.

At the beginning of the statement, they addressed the recent events in Sweida:

“We, the tribal leaders and dignitaries of Raqqa canton, have been closely following the developments in Sweida province through media outlets and social media platforms. Certain factions have committed violations against innocent civilians in Sweida as a result of the ongoing events, which have led to a civil war among the Syrian people.”

The statement strongly condemned the violations against civilians and the targeting of national symbols in Sweida, affirming that these figures belong to the entire Syrian people and represent them all. It also condemned the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.

The statement called on Syria’s transitional government to take full responsibility in holding accountable those who committed these violations, as well as the parties inciting hatred and sectarianism. It urged all sides to resort to reason and dialogue.

Furthermore, the tribal leaders and dignitaries of Raqqa called on the international community to fully assume its responsibilities in protecting the Syrian people and to pressure all Syrian parties refusing dialogue towards reaching a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

In conclusion, the tribal leaders and dignitaries of Raqqa reaffirmed that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are the safeguard for all Syrians and represent a model of brotherhood and coexistence among the diverse components of the unified Syrian people.
