Tribal forum: Our message is achieving pluralistic, decentralized Syria

At the invitation of the Walda tribe in the city of Raqqa, and with the aim of increasing cohesion and strengthening the societal fabric between the clans and the connection between the Autonomous Administration and the people, a tribal forum was organized today in the city of Raqqa.

The forum was attended by notables and sheikhs of the tribes of Raqqa, Tabqa, Manbij, Deir ez-Zor, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, and military and civil institutions.

Jihad Al-Khalaf gave a speech on behalf of the Walda tribe, in which he said: “Our meeting today is a meeting of love and peace, it is cornerstone for Syrian dialogue.”

He stressed, "We are all aware of the attempts to spread strife in Deir ez-Zor, but we did not allow this strife to spread, and we call on all clans to carry out their duty and positive role to reject discrimination between the components."

The notable of the Walda tribe, Sheikh Hamid Al-Faraj, also gave a speech in which he stressed, “ We need to be one hand with our administration and our people in NE Syria. We are here presenting the beautiful picture of our people from Suwayda to Afrin to Ras al-Ain to Derik.”

For his part, the co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Hassan Zohat, said: “The people of Raqqa are the ones who challenged the world when the city was destroyed, and you ( people of Raqqa) built it with your own hands, you turned it into a model to be emulated in all of Syria.

He added: "It has turned into an attraction area for all Syrians who did not know Raqqa. Now they are all in Raqqa from all over Syria."

The co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Hussein Othman, welcomed the attendees and said: “We in the Autonomous Administration appreciate the efforts made for this forum, and we all hope that we will stand united in the face of terrorism and extremism and live in freedom and peace.”

 He added: " We have launched an initiative in the Autonomous Administration and we are all with the unity of the Syrian territories through the social contract. Those who try to fish in troubled waters must understand our message well which is achieving a pluralistic, decentralized Syria."

The forum is the second called for by the Walda tribe, which called on all clans to hold such forums that strengthen the societal fabric.”
