Transitional Government Forces detain bus for transport company in Sweida

General Security forces affiliated with the transitional government in Sweida detained a bus belonging to the Shams Al-Alam Travel Company at the Matouneh checkpoint, north of the governorate, and took the driver and his assistant to Damascus. This prompted the company to suspend its trips to the capital until further notice.

Yesterday, General Security forces affiliated with the transitional government stopped a bus belonging to the Shams Al-Alam Travel Company at a checkpoint in the village of Matouneh, north of Sweida, as it was returning from the city of Jaramana to the governorate. The driver, Ghassan Shaqir, and his assistant, Rami Shaqir, were detained and taken to Damascus.

The company's owner, Karim Saray al-Din, said on his Facebook page that the checkpoint personnel removed the passengers and detained the bus and its crew. He noted that the company did not know the circumstances of the incident.

Saray al-Din asked owners of valuables to go to the Matouneh checkpoint to collect them exclusively, after presenting receipts proving ownership. The company also urged passengers to visit its office between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to receive their reservation fees.

Shams Al-Alam announced the suspension of its flights to the capital, Damascus, until further notice.
