"Together We Reject Hate Speech and Media Incitement" Campaign concluded

The Free Media Union today issued the closing statement of the signature collection campaign it launched in North and East Syria under the slogan "Together We Reject Hate Speech and Media Incitement," on July 22. Announcing the end of the campaign, it stated:

"The 'Together We Reject Hate Speech and Media Incitement' campaign, launched in North and East Syria on July 22, has concluded. The campaign, which lasted 15 days, saw the broad participation of journalists, media organizations, research and study centers, cultural and political figures, and representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, in addition to supportive voices from around the world."

It added, "The number of signatories exceeded 150 journalists, representing dozens of independent and women's media organizations, who affirmed their rejection of the increasing rhetoric of incitement and hatred in the media landscape."

He noted that "the campaign featured the involvement of women's media organizations from the Middle East and around the world, with participants emphasizing the importance of free media solidarity in confronting hate speech that threatens the foundations of civil peace and coexistence."

In its statement, the Free Media Union considered this campaign a qualitative step toward strengthening the role of the media in confronting incitement and divisive rhetoric.

It also expressed its appreciation for all the efforts that contributed to the campaign's success and affirmed its readiness "to continue working toward a free, professional, and humane media that upholds the value of truth and establishes a democratic society based on justice and participatory life."

At the end of its statement, the Union announced its intention to document the campaign's results and outcomes in a special file, which will be submitted to relevant authorities at the local and international levels, including human rights organizations and international media unions, with the aim of pressuring for concrete action against incitement in the media and strengthening joint cooperation to curb these harmful phenomena
