Tirbespiyê residents link peace process to leader Ocalan's physical freedom

Calls for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan continue, as several residents of Tirbespiyê in the Jazira Canton said that the success and further development of the "Peace and Democratic Society" process, launched by Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February 2025, require practical steps leading to his release.

In this context, citizen Berxwedan Suleiman said the region needs genuine solutions to its ongoing crises, adding that allowing Abdullah Ocalan to play a role and securing his release could help address many of the existing problems.

Berxwedan noted that leader Ocalan's freedom is not only a Kurdish issue but is also connected to all peoples seeking to live in an atmosphere of peace and equality.

For her part, Khurma Ali said that ending the cycle of war and crises requires advancing political solutions, considering leader Abdullah Ocalan's freedom an important factor in that regard.

She added that more than a year has passed since the "Peace and Democratic Society" initiative was launched without any tangible steps being taken by the Turkish side, expressing hope that leader Abdullah Ocalan will be freed as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Issa Danho said: "We hope the leader will be released soon. Through his ideas and views, he is capable of contributing to ending many of the problems."

He concluded by saying that they would support any initiative launched by leader Abdullah Ocalan.
