The Kurdistan Women’s Union Platform had announced on Monday that the conference was scheduled to take place on October 4 in the city of Sulaymaniyah, Southern Kurdistan.

However, because the date coincided with the three-day commemoration of Jalal Talabani’s passing, as well as the launch of campaigns for the Iraqi parliamentary elections, the conference was postponed, according to Roj News. No alternative date has been determined.

This will be the third such conference, following two earlier national gatherings: the first held in Amed in Northern Kurdistan in 2010, and the second in Hawler in 2012. The third conference is regarded as a significant event, bringing together women from all four parts of Kurdistan along with delegations from Europe.

On September 27, the platform convened an expanded meeting at the Ramada Hotel in Sulaymaniyah, where discussions covered preparations for the conference, including the agenda, participation of delegations, and the main issues to be addressed.
