On Saturday, September 20, the Syrian transitional government gunmen bombed Om al-Tineh village in Deir Hafer city in Tabqa province, killing seven civilians, among them women and children, in addition to wounding four others.

The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) condemned the massacre committed by the Syrian transitional government, saying, "Shame on an army that claims patriotism and bombs its  people."

The statement included,

"Those who kill children and women will not build a homeland for Syrians.

On the evening of September 20, 2025, factions affiliated with the so-called Damascus interim government, supported by Turkey, committed a horrific massacre against civilians in Om al-Tineh village in Deir Hafer countryside east of Aleppo. The attacks began with drones, followed by intense artillery shelling, directly targeting residents' homes, killing and wounding 11 people, most of whom were women and children.

The perpetrators of this massacre not only committed the massacre, but also accused the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of being behind the bombing, even though Om al-Tineh village is located within SDF's control, and it was they who were subjected to the terrorist attack.

We are not surprised by the factions committing massacres against civilians. They have previously committed similar crimes in Afrin, Girê Spî, and Serê Kaniyê, targeted Alawites and Druze, and bombed Christian churches without any qualms or ethics. They prove time and time again to the Syrian people first and to the world second that nothing deters them from disregarding the lives of innocents, in order to impose their extremist mentality and agenda.

We, the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), affirm that the Syrian Democratic Forces, are the most dedicated to protecting civilians and excluding them from targeting in battles. They were formed primarily to protect all communities and have saved the peoples of North and East Syria and the world from terrorism. These forces do not need certifications for their professionalism and combat ethics.

We condemn and denounce the massacre committed against civilians in Om al-Tineh village. We call on the Syrian people, the international community, and relevant institutions to expose these factions, whose hands have been stained with the blood of Syrians, including Kurds, Arabs, and Syriacs, as well as those of various religions and sects; Alawites, Druze, Yazidis, and Christians. We also demand that they be held accountable for their endless crimes.

We also call on international powers to assume their responsibilities towards the Syrian people in general, and towards the Syrian Democratic Forces and the democratic experience in North and East Syria, in order to build a democratic, pluralistic, and decentralized Syria that guarantees the rights of all Syrians.

Those who kill children, women, and civilians, target components, and threaten their own people with regional powers will not be able to build a new Syria, but rather, they will reproduce a model of dictatorship, oppression, and exclusion.

Mercy to the martyrs, and shame on an army that claims patriotism yet bombards its own people."
