Tabqa women hold solidarity vigil to support peace, democratic Syria

The Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Tabqa district, North and East Syria, held a solidarity vigil at the square of its headquarters in Tabqa city. Dozens of women representing the institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, the Free Women's Association, and the Jinolojy Research Center participated in the vigil, along with members of the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in the district.

The event began with a speech delivered by Najah al-Hussein, the administrator at the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Tabqa district, in which she said, "We declare that the voice of women is the voice of peace, and that the future of Syria will only be built with their free and active participation. Salutations to the martyr of peace, Hevrin Khalaf, and to every Syrian woman struggling for a just and democratic homeland."

After the speech finished, the participants stood five minutes of silence in reverence for the souls of women struggling for freedom and peace.

This vigil is part of the campaign launched by the Kongra Star and the Zenobia Women's Gathering in a joint statement on October 12, under the slogan, "With Women's Alliance, We Will Build a Free, Democratic, and Decentralized Syria."

The campaign, which includes three phases, aims to build a pluralistic, democratic, and decentralized Syria, in which women would be at the heart of the democratic transition process.
