Tabqa residents, Afrin and Shahba IDPs: Leader’s call is our path to peace, freedom

In a united stance calling for the physical freedom of Abdullah Ocalan, the residents of Tabqa and those forcibly displaced from Afrin and Shahba issued a joint statement.

The statement was read at the temporary shelter center for the displaced in central Tabqa, with the participation of members of the Democratic Union Party. It was delivered in both Kurdish and Arabic by Ibrahim Rasho, an administrator in the Afrin and Shahba Council’s Organization Office, and Fatima Haj Mohammed, a member of Tabqa’s City Council.

The statement read: “Amid the crises engulfing the Middle East, under the wars that have exhausted its peoples, Leader Abdullah Ocalan emerges as an eternal symbol of peace and freedom. His philosophy, based on democracy, social justice, and coexistence, represents a project for life for the region’s peoples and opens the way toward relations founded on brotherhood and dignity.”

The statement noted that the Leader’s call on February 27, 2025, embodied a genuine will to end violence and overcome conflict, stressing that peace is not a mere slogan but a realistic possibility when rooted in an authentic vision and unwavering determination.

It added: “We sincerely believe in this historic call and see it as a real opportunity to end wars and build a democratic society that guarantees rights and freedoms for all. The Turkish government’s disregard of this initiative, through policies of isolation and procrastination, constitutes an obstruction to the peace process and a threat to the region’s future.”

The statement also emphasized rejection of any attempt to exclude or marginalize the Leader’s role, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities, work to end the isolation, secure Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s release, and open the way toward a Middle East founded on peace and dignity.

Participants further highlighted the pioneering role of revolutionary youth as the vanguard force in building societies, pointing out that the Rojava and North and East Syria revolution, based on the Democratic Nation project and the Leader’s vision, serves as a model for the participation of all components of the Syrian people in confronting dictatorship, extremism, and racism.

The statement underlined that the Autonomous Administration, by adopting the path of civil peace, has succeeded in confronting ISIS and foiling conspiracies aimed at sowing division among the region’s peoples.

The statement concluded by affirming that the model of the Autonomous Administration has become the true reference for all Syrians and the most suitable solution for Syria’s future, adding: “The sun of peace cannot be hidden.”
