Syrian Women's Council; Enhancing women role in representing their countries

The administrator of the Syrian Women’s Council, Suhail Sinouh, said during a speech she delivered on behalf of the Women’s Council at the fourth conference of the Syrian Democratic Council held today in Raqqa Canton: “There is no doubt that the Syrian crisis has prolonged, expanded, and claimed hundreds of thousands of victims and martyrs over more than a decade of bloody years. The Syrian crisis did not find any real efforts to find a fair solution for the Syrian people with all their sects and diversity, unfortunately at a time when we also did not find an international will to intervene and resolve the crisis.” 

Suhail Sinouh explained: “We at the Syrian Women’s Council call on all Syrians, especially Syrian women, to join hands, engage in work, and actively participate in developing and formulating a political solution to this crisis.”

 She stressed that there is no solution without creating political, economic and cultural decentralization through Syrian-Syrian dialogue as a step in the right direction and building a democratic decentralized Syria to emerge from this crisis.

Suhail Sinouh noted the pioneering role of women in Syrian society, and said: “Syrian women had a prominent role in bringing the voice and suffering of women to the negotiating table and participated in all aspects of life. women are leaders and pioneers in this war, and women should have the same opportunities to represent their country in the peace process and the drafting of the Syrian constitution.

Then, video was shown, which included the entire work of the Syrian Democratic Council during the past five years, the congratulatory messages received at the conference were read by Syrian national parties, forces, and figures at home and abroad, and the conference closed its work to the media.

The conference is scheduled to discuss the structure of the Syrian Democratic Council, its political document, the internal regulations, the formation of the General Council, and the election of a co-chair of the Council.
