Syrian Transitional Govt. closes Tabqa-Salamiyah road again

The Syrian Transitional Government Forces re-closed the Tabqa-Salamiyah road to thousands of travelers on Tuesday.

Videos obtained by ANHA agency showed hundreds of vehicles carrying thousands of travelers stuck at a checkpoint of the Transitional Government Forces in Syria located at the Zakiya junction near the town of Athriya in the Hama countryside. This closure of the road between the Syrian interior and the North and East Syria Region comes just two days after temporarily allowing passage.

Hassen Khabour, the co-chair of the Drivers' Union in Raqqa canton, confirmed to ANHA agency that the Transitional Government Forces in Syria had re-closed the road via earth mounds, causing a backlog of vehicles. He noted that clashes broke out between travelers and the Transitional Government Forces' personnel at the checkpoint as a result of the travelers' refusal to accept this sudden measure.

The Transitional Government Forces in Syria had allowed traffic to resume through its checkpoints on October 19, without issuing any official explanation regarding the reasons for the closure, the reopening, or the expected duration of that.
