Syrian politician: Those who attacked besieged neighborhoods in Aleppo cannot lead country to stability

In a statement to ANHA agency, researcher and politician Jamil Assad Hatem from Sweida said that the attacks carried out by mercenaries of the interim government on the besieged neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid in the city of Aleppo over five consecutive days constitute a new crime added to the record of violations committed by what he described as the “jihadist authority” ruling Syria.

Hatem stated that targeting residential neighborhoods and shelling civilians confirms the persistence of a policy of violence and destruction and the deliberate dismantling of Syria’s social fabric. He stressed that these regionally backed actors are incapable of leading the country toward stability or any genuine political solution.

He affirmed that the people of North and East Syria have consistently and repeatedly emphasized that they are an inseparable part of Syria and have demanded nothing more than a democratic state that guarantees the rights of all components demands that, he noted, align with those of the people of Sweida, who today see no positive steps from this government toward achieving such goals.

“We stand in full solidarity with the residents of Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh, and Bani Zaid, and with everyone defending their right to live in dignity and safety,” Hatem said, adding that what they are facing today is the same as what was experienced in Sweida last July, and that the party responsible is the same.

He warned that the continuation of such policies obstructs any prospects for stability or a genuine political solution in the country.
